Meeting Summary:
STI sought to analyze the origin and strategy of the dissemination of medical science through professional practices, review the internalization of scientific phenomenon, and to study the ways in which new scientific concepts are incorporated in society. This meeting was lead by Ana Marta González of the University of Navarra.
Principal Inquiries:
• What changes in medical and health-related concepts and definitions have had an impact on society’s perception of the health and medical issues?
• In what ways have enhancement and biotechnology impacted human life?
• Analysis of the pervasiveness of health terms in everyday life and in fields other than health sciences –for instance, economics; analysis of the influence of psychotherapy and the terms of therapeutic relationship in analysis of organizations and family life
• Dissemination of science: analysis of the information on health in the lifestyles section of newspapers
• The rise and role of public bioethics and its affect on contemporary moral and political discourse
